Risk control

Three bid details that can disqualify an otherwise strong response

A technically capable company can still lose an opportunity before price or quality is evaluated. These are the first three controls to check.

1. Mandatory pre-bid meetings

If attendance is mandatory, missing the meeting can end eligibility. Record the date, time, location, registration method, and whether a named representative must attend.

2. Addenda and deadline changes

Addenda may change scope, forms, pricing schedules, meeting details, or the due date. Use the latest official file and confirm whether every addendum must be acknowledged in the response.

3. Exact submission instructions

Electronic portals, sealed packages, copies, labels, signatures, and delivery cutoffs differ. Treat the official solicitation—not an alert or summary—as the controlling instruction.

Practical rule

Run the compliance check before investing heavily in estimating or proposal writing.
